Known for her vibrant colors, bold imagery, and rich symbolism, Romy’s work invites viewers into a vivid dialogue with her. Her work explores the complex intersections of personal experience, societal issues, injustice, nature, the feminine, Caribbean identity and spirituality.
She enjoys working with a diverse range of materials, including natural elements sourced from her surroundings and found objects, whether organic or repurposed trash. This approach allows her to experiment and push creative boundaries. She loves the intricate interplay of mixed media, where the interaction between different materials becomes a poetic expression in itself.
Romy has been actively participating in group exhibitions at Ateliers’89 since 2016. Despite not having formal art education, she has developed a distinctive voice, and her artistry has been recognized through participation in esteemed events such as the Mykonos Biennale in 2021 and the Caribbean Linked residency program in 2022.
