Karl Franz started his career at Procter & Gamble and PepsiCo, then his journey shifted to mixology while working in beverage development. In 2008, he translated this passion into 67 Orange Street, the pioneering cocktail bar in Harlem, a celebrated NYC cocktail bar for over 15 years, recognized by Esquire among America’s top 27 Bars. In 2016, he revived the historic Anchor Spa in New Haven, transforming it into a modern cocktail haven while honoring its legacy.
Karl’s Caribbean heritage has led him to have a particularly fond affinity for Rum. In 2015 he opened Solomon and Kuff Rum Bar to celebrate the cane based spirit. Since then he has lectured at major festivals like Charleston Food & Wine on Rum. He currently is Faculty for Bar 5- Day, the most prestigious bartender training course. There he teaches Tasting and Rum.
Karl is a craft bartender, award-winning mixologist and sought-after speaker. In 2022, he launched Uncle Waithley’s Beverage Company, crafting Vincy Brew, with a vision and passion for redefining the perception of ginger beer and crafting authentic Caribbean-inspired flavored beverages.
