Kahindo Mateene

KAHINDO is a bold, ethically made womenswear brand that fuses original African-inspired prints with modern silhouettes for women who want to stand out with purpose. Rooted in my Congolese heritage and shaped by a global upbringing, I created KAHINDO to celebrate the richness of African culture while creating sustainable jobs for women across the continent. Each piece is designed in New York and handcrafted by female artisans in Africa using fair trade practices—bringing the soul of the continent into every stitch.

KAHINDO is fashion that looks good, feels good, and does good.

Founded by designer Kahindo Mateene, a Project Runway alum, Tory Burch Fellow, and graduate of the Workshop at Macy’s, the brand has been featured in Vogue, WWD, The New York Times, Elle, and more. Her work reflects a powerful blend of artistry, culture, and impact—empowering both the women who wear her designs and the women who make them.

Ombré Organza Dress

Inspired by a soul-stirring trip to Accra, Ghana, this double-layered blue ombré organza dress is a poetic reflection of the ocean’s ripples along the Atlantic coast—a visual reminder of both nature’s power and life’s fragility. The delicate threads woven between the layers mimic those ever-shifting waves, adding depth and movement to the silhouette. Ethically made in Kenya through fair trade practices, this piece embodies conscious luxury and artisanal craftsmanship. Designed to flow effortlessly from spring soirées to summer celebrations, it’s a timeless addition to your wardrobe—and a work of art in motion.
