
John Reno Jackson is an interdisciplinary artist based in London, England. He draws inspiration from his Caymanian heritage and the dynamic environment surrounding him. Currently pursuing a MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, he previously attended BFA courses at The Slade School of Fine Art, University College London from 2022 – 2024, and was enriched by mentorship from TURPS Correspondence Course from 2020 – 2022. Jackson’s practice continually evolves through participation in residencies and educational programs. In summer 2022, he was privileged to attend Caribbean Linked VI at Atelier ‘89 in Aruba. He was the first Caymanian to attend the PADA Studios residency program in Barreiro, Portugal in 2020, and returned again in 2023. His works have been showcased in numerous exhibitions, namely: “The Nomenclature of Colours III”, Slade School (2024); “Foundations”, Black Pony Gallery (2024); “Conversations with the Past – In the Present Tense”, National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (2023); Caribbean Linked VI (2022); and most notably, his solo show “a heron amongst the storm”, National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (2022). Jackson has also received grants from CATAPULT I & II (2020 and 2022 respectively), organized by Kingston Creative, Fresh Milk Barbados, and the American Friends of Jamaica.
