Jessica Fernandez is a Toronto-based artist and designer whose practice explores the intersections of storytelling, environment, and identity. With a Bachelor in design, she works across disciplines, blending drawing, design, and architectural concepts with a deep interest in materiality and process.
Born in Cuba and raised in Toronto, Jessica brings with her the layered perspectives of migration and cultural hybridity. These experiences shape both the themes and aesthetics of her work, where travel, natural landscapes, and personal memory often serve as points of inspiration. Her projects balance imaginative vision with tactile experimentation, reflecting a practice rooted in curiosity and care.
Her recent risograph project was created as both a study in color and form and as a meditation on diaspora. Through bold, layered visuals and the inherent imperfections of risograph printing, Jessica embraces the unpredictability of the medium as a metaphor for the resilience, complexity, and vibrancy of diasporic identity.
