
Elvis Lopez is a celebrated Aruban artist and curator, known for founding Ateliers ’89 in 1989—the first contemporary art residency in the Caribbean and Latin America. He was knighted in the Dutch Order of Oranje Nassau in 2019 for his contributions to the arts. Elvis has represented Aruba at major international biennials and curated impactful exhibitions, including Pan Gods: Artists in Times of COVID. He also leads the Caribbean Linked Residency Program, fostering regional artistic exchange, and runs Arte den Bario, offering art education to underserved communities. His work often explores community, social issues, and wordplay.
