Eddion Whyms

Eddion Whyms, born on December 8th, 1999, in Nassau, The Bahamas, is an emerging visual artist who primarily works in the mediums of charcoal and acrylic paint. Eddion’s art is an exploration of identity and emotion, a journey into the depths of human consciousness. He seeks to understand and convey the intricacies of human thought and feeling through his developing visual language based in symbolism.

In 2018, Eddion participated in M.A.V’s (Musician, Artist, and Vocalist Showcase), showcasing his talent to a broader audience. In 2019, his work was recognized in “The Weekend Paper” under the title “Tribute to the Strength of Black Women.” Additionally, Eddion participated in the Young Artists of The Bahamas exhibition at Doongalik Studios and the Central Bank Annual Art Competition, both within the same year. He is an 2022 awardee of the Central Bank competition, with his work being a part of the Bank’s prestigious collection. His art has also found its way into the homes of numerous private art collectors throughout The Bahamas.

Eddion has engaged with Central Bank to participate in a month-long residency in celebration of 40 years of their annual open call competition, completing works for a final exhibition at the Bank called Residency I. He also earned a space as a resident artist at the Incubator for Collaborative Expression, with his work being featured in the space’s gallery. Most recently, he participated in a duo exhibition with Justin Moultrie at the Gallery and Wine Bar, and Cayman Art Week.

As his journey unfolds, Whyms eagerly anticipates future endeavors. Eddion’s work is an evolving testament to the power of art to convey the complexities of the human experience.
