The Central Bank of The Bahamas (CBoB) has played a crucial role in supporting Bahamian art since 1984, when Sir William Allen and artist Antonius Roberts initiated an annual art competition to promote creative and critical expression. Initially using outdoor spaces to display artworks, CBoB eventually opened a dedicated gallery in 1991, becoming a key venue for artistic talent. Over the years, the Bank has supported artists through grants, scholarships, and exhibitions, while also building a significant art collection. CBoB’s gallery has showcased the works of renowned Bahamian artists like Jackson Burnside and Amos Ferguson, as well as emerging talent. Beyond visual arts, CBoB has expanded into cultural preservation and technological innovation, supporting historic sites and creating programs to foster creativity. Its efforts continue to advance the visual arts community and contribute to nation-building.
