Bryoni Ella

Bryony Ella is an interdisciplinary artist of Trinidadian and British heritage, working with an embodied ecology practice, somewhere in the liminal space between science and spirituality. She ‘wild draws’ in nature, plays with paints and patterns in the studio and co-creates immersive public realm ‘portals’ that explore concepts of belonging in – and to – the natural world. By foregrounding sensory and eco-centric perspectives of our environment, her practice celebrates the human body as an experience that is organic, porous and intimately connected to all living systems. Often collaborating with academics and other artists, Ella works across a variety of mediums to explore diverse cosmologies and narratives of our world. Ultimately, this practice is a process of unlearning and remembering; looking beyond human-defined borders and binaries while moving ever closer toward expansive understandings of humanity’s place within the more-than-human community.
