Bordón’s Studio, situated in Havana, Cuba, functions as the showroom and workspace for artists Yamilé Pardo, Edel Bordón, and Pablo Bordón Pardo. This remarkable family space breaks away from the traditional home setting, evolving into an interdisciplinary focal point for sharing artistic processes and experiences.
At the heart of this gallery lies the aim of nurturing creative growth. It serves as a stage for cross-generational dialogue, displaying a wide range of artistic concepts. In addition to the core team, the gallery embraces a diverse group of individuals with varying backgrounds, such as visual artists, educators, curators, writers, researchers, musicians, architects, and designers.
The gallery’s idea emerges from the extensive teaching initiatives of the three artists, originally centered on promoting the artworks of young students through the Altamira project. Developed as a community art center, the Altamira Space served as a location for exhibitions and as a space for engaging in art for the community during the XII Havana Biennial.
After the impactful experience and in response to the shifts brought about by the pandemic, the project progressed into what is now recognized as Bordón’s Gallery. Embracing a distinct environment, the gallery fosters the forming of connections and discussions around art, as well as the pedagogical procedures inherent in creation. It thrives as a gathering point for artists and allies, advocating collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and mutual enrichment.
