Ateliers’89 was established as a pioneering art initiative in Aruba, aimed at fostering artistic expression and community engagement through contemporary art.
Ateliers fosters experimental practices, valuing the importance of nurturing artistic talent and offering a platform for artistic growth on the island. This dedication is what established Ateliers as the home and birthplace of numerous Aruban artists in the contemporary art scene.
Over the years, Ateliers has developed into a vital hub for artists, art enthusiasts, and visitors, fostering artistic dialogue both locally and internationally through its workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and regional art collaborations. Among these initiatives is Caribbean Linked, an art residency that connects artists across the Caribbean and highlights Caribbean identity, cultural exchange, and artistic development.
Ateliers’89 not only fosters creativity and artistic excellence but also makes a meaningful impact in the community through the art program Arte den Bario by offering art workshops to elderly people and children in underserved areas. Through these initiatives, we strive to bring joy, inspiration, and connection to those who need it most.
